Dripping Springs High School orchestra qualifies for state contest

DRIPPING SPRINGS   — Six members of the Dripping Springs High School Tiger Orchestra qualified for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest after memorizing a Class I solo and earning a Division I rating at the Region 18 Solo and Ensemble Contest Saturday, Jan. 25, at Akins High School in Austin.

State qualifiers were senior Sophia Kerr (Violin, Ensemble), juniors Christian Johnson (Violin, Solo), Alexander Johnson (Cello, Solo), Annie Reale (Piano, Ensemble), sophomore William Reale (Violin, Ensemble) and freshman Emilia Trevino-Hernandez (Cello, Solo).

The Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest will be held on the University of Texas at Austin campus in late May.

Three additional orchestra students earned Division I ratings on their pieces including senior Sophie Chapo (Violin) and sophomores Antoine Soson (Violin) and Alexis Grimes (Viola).
