Lady Texans soccer
The Wimberley High School Lady Texans soccer team (16-1-1 overall; 5-0-1 district) is on an 11-0-1 run and has outscored district opponents 32-4 with four district games remaining on the schedule.
The team totals 78 goals on the season and Lilli Sandoval leads with 27, followed by sister and teammate Ella Sandoval with 15. Wimberley has away games with Davenport High School (5-1 district) and Canyon Lake High School (3-1-2 district) before hosting Bandera High School (0-6 district) at 7 p.m. March 11.
The Lady Texans finish the regular season at Fredericksburg High School (1-4-1 district) at 7 p.m. March 14.
Wimberley boys basketball season ends
With eight teams remaining in Class 4A Division 2 and a chance to make it to the state semi-finals, the Wimberley High School Texans (27-10 overall; 11-2 district) basketball season ended with a 74-60 loss to La Marque High School (39-2 overall; 15-2 district) Friday, Feb. 28 at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
Wimberley had won playoff games over Manor New Tech High School 94-68, Carrizo Springs High School 65-58 and Wharton High School 59-42 before the loss.
The University Interscholastic League boys state championships are Thursday, March 6, through Saturday, March 8, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
