Dripping Springs and Wimberley earn high school softball district awards

Dripping Springs

Dripping Springs head coach Wade Womack was named the 6A District 26 Coach of the Year. Womack led the Lady Tigers to a district championship and finished the season as a 6A D2 state semifinalist.

Sophomore Lorelei Gamble was named MVP and finished the season with a .547 batting average, hit 13 doubles, five triples and 23 home runs, with 66 RBI and was walked a school record 60 times.

Freshman shortstop and pitcher, Sadie Bradford, was awarded Newcomer of the Year for District 26 5A. She made 30 appearances in the circle for the Lady Tigers, pitched 129.1 innings, gave up 129 hits with 82 strikeouts, finished the season with a 15-5 record and 3.36 ERA. She also held a .953 fielding percentage and a .324 batting average with three home runs, 12 doubles, a triple and 24 RBI.

Named to the First Team: Tatum Green, sophomore; Emma Phillips, freshman; Lauren Byrnes, sophomore and Taylor Crain, senior.

Named to Second Team: Elianna Amato, junior and Jai-Lynn Flores, senior. Honor Mention: Lillian Wearden, sophomore; Kira Preslar, junior and McKenna Riley, sophomore.


Wimberley

Wimberley 4A District 26 Awards: Ella Patek was named the Newcomer of the Year after ending the season with a .481 batting average, hit five doubles, one triple and four home runs.

Named to the First Team: Grace Strobel, Charlotte Woodward and Emorie Gahan.

Named to the Second Team: Reagan Kenley and Bailey Wright. Honorable Mention: Julia Leonard.
