KYLE –– The Kyle Police Department has been recognized as the Small Employer of the Year by the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Department of Texas.
The award, presented Friday, June 6, highlights the department’s commitment to hiring and supporting military veterans. With 31 veterans currently employed, the Kyle Police Department values the experience, discipline and leadership veterans bring to the organization.
The department actively recruits veterans and has taken additional steps to support them beyond hiring, offering assistance for eligible military veterans to receive on-the-job training benefits as part of their professional development within the agency, according to a KPD news release. In addition, the department’s pay structure recognizes veterans’ years of military service, allowing them to receive credit and compensation that reflects their experience from day one.
“We’re honored to receive this recognition from the DAV,” said KPD Chief Jeff Barnett. “Our veteran employees are a vital part of our team and we remain committed to honoring their service and supporting their continued growth.”
