Geraldine Fogle McCormick, known as “Jerry” to her friends and family, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2025, in Buda, Texas. Born on March 29, 1923, in Thompsonville, Texas, Jerry’s vibrant spirit and warm heart touched the lives of those around her for 101 remarkable years.
Jerry graduated from Yoe High in Cameron, Texas. Furthering her education, she attended business school in Austin, which serendipitously led her to the love of her life, a young physician named Dr. T.C. McCormick. Their love story was one for the ages, beginning with their marriage on June 28, 1942, and spanning seventy years until Dr. McCormick’s passing in 2012.
Together, they built a life filled with love and service in Buda, Texas, where they raised their four children. Dr. McCormick may have been the town physician, but Jerry was equally integral to the community. As the PTA President of Buda schools in the 1950s, the Postmaster in the early 1960s, and the official First Lady of Buda in the 1980s during her husband’s mayoral term, Jerry’s dedication to her community was unwavering. Her commitment to the First Baptist Church of Buda was evident as she served in various roles including Sunday School teacher, a member of the Hospitality Committee, and as a chairperson for the church’s 100th-anniversary celebration.
