Publisher Ashley Kontnier attended the Texas Press Association annual convention, held in Denton, where the Hays Free Press won multiple awards for content published in 2024. The awards include first place General Excellence, News Writing and Column Writing and third place Sports Photography. Additionally, the Hays Free Press earned fourth place overall in its division.
