SAN MARCOS — Mission Able, a local San Marcos nonprofit that mobilizes people to meet neighbors' needs, announced the official ribbon cutting for its mobile fleet summer program, celebrating community partnership and the launch of a season of service.
This event marks the middle of a summer of service and transformation across San Marcos and the surrounding areas. With donations and support from the Community Adaptation Program from the American Red Cross of Central and South Texas Region, McCoy’s Building Supply, Texas on Mission and the San Marcos Lions Club, Mission Able is equipped to serve more families and communities, said a news release.
“We are blown away by the generosity and shared vision from our partners,” said Monica Followell, founder and executive director of Mission Able. “This isn't just a ribbon cutting — it's a moment that launches a movement.”
Seven groups from various states are traveling to San Marcos to join the Mission Able projects through a ministry called LeaderTreks. These teams will serve in hands-on ways — repairing homes, meeting needs and sharing hope — all while building life changing relationships with the people of Central Texas. In addition to LeaderTreks, Mission Able is receiving volunteers from the United Methodist Army and Texans On Mission.
“This is about more than projects — it’s about purpose,” Followell said. “Each volunteer group brings not just skills, but hearts ready to serve. Together, we’re answering the call to love our neighbors in real, tangible ways.”
The community is invited to celebrate this milestone, meet volunteers and hear stories of what’s ahead this summer.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. July 3 in the parking lot of First Baptist Church, located at 325 W. McCarty Lane, San Marcos.
