Hays CISD schools will open their doors for the first day of school on Sept. 8.
Instruction for the first three weeks will be virtual. The new shift in the district's calendar will lend schools to stay in session through June 2021.
The district's 2020-2021 safety plan is now accessible to the public.
While the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is unpredictable, superintendent Dr. Eric Wright is grateful to the Hays community for being patient in waiting for a back to school plan.
"I appreciate the patience and flexibility that the community has shown us," Wright said. "We have been chasing a moving target since COVID-19 began."
