Over the July 4 weekend, many counties surrounding Hays County suffered devastating flooding, leading to a death toll of more than 100 people, as of press time. Although Hays County did not flood, the western portion of the county did receive significant rainfall, with weather stations reporting from 1.18 inches near IH-35, up to 6.24 inches near Driftwood, between July 1 and July 8, according to the Hays County Office of Emergency Services WETMap.
