In Loving Memory of Ofelia Tenorio
February 18, 1953 – August 3, 2025
Ofelia, affectionately known as Ofie, was a devoted sister, cherished aunt, and loyal friend to many. Born in Kyle, Texas to Blas and Manuela Tenorio, she grew up surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins, alongside her three siblings. After graduating from Jack C. Hays High School, Ofie moved to Austin and quickly became an enthusiastic softball player. She often hosted her team and softball friends for post-game parties and socials, fostering a sense of community.
Ofie retired from the IRS in the late 1980s and later returned to Kyle to care for her mother and father in their later years. Though she never married or had children, her deep affection for children led her to volunteer for the Special Olympics for many years and work at several Hays CISD schools in Kyle. Her patience, warmth, and unwavering dedication touched countless young lives, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, encouragement, and joy. Beyond her professional and volunteer work, Ofie was known for her high energy, thoughtful conversations, and her unique ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. Her wide circle of close friends always felt her loving and steady presence.
Ofie is preceded in death by her parents, Blas and Manuela. She is survived by her siblings: Gilbert Tenorio of Kyle, Olga Wilson of Kyle, and Gerald Tenorio of Austin. She is also survived by her four nieces: Tammy Boddy (Troy) of Kyle, Lisa Truppa (Tony) of Dallas, Crystal Schaffer (Joe) of San Marcos, and Celina Tenorio Gonzalez (Gabe) of Buda. Ofie found great joy in being part of her grandnephews' and grandnieces' lives: Matthew Boddy of Kyle, Logan Schaffer of San Marcos, Evan Schaffer of San Marcos, Khloe Gonzalez of Buda, Kaylie Gonzalez of Buda, and Camila Gonzalez of Buda.
Services will be held at St. Anthony Marie De Claret Catholic Church in Kyle, Texas on Saturday, August 23, 2025. A rosary service will begin at 9:30am with a funeral mass immediately following at 10am. Graveside services will be held at a later time.
