The Hays High School Hawks band and guard are headed to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 5A State Marching Contest for the second year in a row — and the third time since 2020. The Hawks earned their spot after two runs — placing fifth in the preliminary round and fourth in the finals round— of the 2025 show “The Lighthouse” at the UIL 5A Area D Contest, held at the Pfield in Pflugerville Saturday, Nov. 1. The preliminary round of the state contest will be held Monday, Nov. 10, at the Alamodome in San Antonio; the Hawks will perform at 4:30 p.m. The top 12 bands will move on to perform in the finals round Tuesday, Nov. 11.
