AUSTIN — In the University Scholastic League (UIL) 6A D2 Region IV volleyball playoffs, the Dripping Springs Tigers finished third in District 26, with a record of 8-4 and an overall record of 27-18.
Last Thursday, Oct. 30, the Lady Tigers traveled to the Toney Burger Center and played the Vandegrift High School Vipers, who finished District 25 with a record of 12-4, or third place.
The Tigers started off strong in the first set and the final score was 25-14; they played with the same intensity and won the second set 25-19. In the third set, the Tigers were down, but battled back and eventually closed out a close third set. The final score in the third set was Tigers 26, Vipers 24.
After the game, head coach Michael Kane was very pleased with the win and said that the team has been thinking about their journey this season and it has been a little different. In the past, he continued, the program has been super successful at the highest level and the expectations were tough, but the players are now hitting their stride and they are becoming more confident.
The Tigers are bi-district champions and advanced to play San Antonio's Clark High School of District 27 at press time Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Johnson High School in Buda.
