The Cougars were district champs with a perfect record of 12-0 and an overall record of 33-14 in the University Interscholastic League 6A Region IV District 29.

All three sets were close and in the third set, the Tigers trailed the Cougars, but finally, the Tigers clawed back and closed out the set with a 26-24 finale. The final set score was Tigers 3, Cougars 0.

The Tigers have advanced to the Region IV Finals and will face the Austin High School Maroons, who were crowned district champions with a district record of 11-1 and an overall record of 39-6. During district play, the Maroons won both meetings against the Tigers with the exact same match score of 3-1.

After the game, head Tiger coach Michael Kane said they pictured themselves in this position and knew Canyon to be a well-coached team and would be a tough opponent. He went on to say that when the Tigers would get a little lead, Canyon would always fight back. He also looks forward to the rematch with the Maroons.

The Lady Tigers will face the Maroons at press time Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Burger Center for the Region IV championship and a chance to advance to the state semifinals.
