The historic Buda Train Depot arrived in downtown Wednesday, Nov. 12. The depot, which was functional until 1961, was sold various times, before the most recent owner offered to donate it back to the city to avoid it being demolished.

The depot arrived in two pieces — one 60 feet long and one 40 feet long — the former of which is pictured traveling down Main Street. It was moved from a location between San Marcos and New Braunfels. The depot was placed in the Downtown Greenbelt in Buda. While the Buda Economic Development Corporation paid for the relocation, Buda City Council has not yet identified funding for the restoration of the building.

Buda Mayor Lee Urbanovsky proudly takes photos of the depot as it is driven into place. The mayor and council have been collaborating with city staff and the EDC on this project for approximately two years.
