DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Dripping Springs High School Boosting Engineering Science & Technology (BEST) Robotics program will welcome schools from around the region for a head-to-head competition from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22.
The national program is for grades 6–12 and features an eight-week season with both on-field performance and judged presentations. The program emphasizes teamwork, communication and engineering design, stated a news release.
Competition day events will feature student-designed and student-built machines tackling an annual themed challenge — this year’s events will center around an artificial intelligence-themed game field called Factoids. There will be a mix of engineering problem solving and pep-rally energy as teams test drive strategy, software and quick repairs between rounds, the release stated. Matches are fast-paced, encourage spectators to get loud and welcome a family-friendly atmosphere.
The event is free to attend anytime during the day and is open to all ages. Spectators are urged to bring their Tiger spirit and cheer loudly for the robots as teams compete on the game field.
