KYLE — The Kyle Police Department is investigating two separate road rage incidents that recently escalated into physical assaults.
The first incident occurred on the evening of Oct. 27, when a driver followed another from Austin to their Kyle residence and physically assaulted them on their property. Warrants are currently active for the suspect involved.
A second, unrelated incident took place in the early afternoon of Nov. 12. In this case, a driver was followed to the 19000 block of the IH- 35 frontage road and assaulted in a parking lot after exiting their vehicle. The suspect, 49-year-old Chad Cortez of Kyle, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury.
KPD reminds drivers to remain calm and avoid confrontation in stressful traffic situations. If a resident finds themselves involved in a road rage incident or believe another driver is following them:
· Do not stop or exit your vehicle.
· Avoid making eye contact or responding to aggressive behavior.
· Drive to the nearest police department.
· Call 911 immediately if you feel threatened or unsafe.
