Our Secret Heroes
Can you imagine what it’s like to stand at the outskirts of a battle field like Ukrane or the Gaza Strip with a mike in your hand relating to the World of Television and Newspapers what is happening behind you. And what about the camera men and women focusing on the reporter and hoping they will not be shot along with the reporter they are filming.
Sorry to say this is a daily situation around the Globe we call Earth in the most hostile situations imaginable. Every day somewhere on our Planet these very brave and tireless Reporters and expert camera men and women risk their lives to bring words and pictures to our TV screens while putting themselves in harm’s way.
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. The camera men and women in all these dangerous spots make this a reality through the remarkable invention of satellites which use microwave to transmit words and pictures.
Yes, as they say, “You’ve come a long way baby” —- from Ben Franklin’s newspaper in the 1700’s which was delivered by horse back to telecommunications which we have the luxury to enjoy 300 years later.
But it all comes at a price —----- for those telling the story and those transmitting the pictures. UNESCO (United Nations and Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organizations) reports 247 journalists killed in the Gaza Israel War zone from October ‘23 to August ‘25.
So when you are watching the news please say a prayer for all those gallant souls who put their lives in harm’s way to bring us the news with pictures
