BUDA - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a fatal accident that occurred in the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 7, in Buda.
According to DPS, troopers responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision on FM 2001 near Hillside Terrace at approximately 7:30 a.m. The preliminary investigation indicates a 2015 Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on FM 2001 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the center line and struck a 2025 Subaru Ascent head-on, DPS stated. At this time, the roadway was formally shut down and reopened later that morning at approximately 10:57 a.m., according to the Hays County Sheriff's Office, who also responded to the scene.
The driver of the Nissan Sentra was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Hays County Justice of the Peace, however, the identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin, DPS stated. The driver of the Subaru was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
