On Jan. 13, the Buda Fire Department announced the death of Spillar: “It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Lieutenant/Paramedic Eric Spillar. Today, we pause to honor Eric’s life, service, and the lasting impact he had on the Buda Fire Department and those who served alongside him.” He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Ann Spillar, daughter Brooklynn, 13, and son Pierce, 8.
Spillar served as a paramedic and firefighter for BFD from Sept. 7, 2010, until his May 2025 diagnosis with Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Tongue.
“Eric will be remembered for his service, his commitment to this profession, and the relationships he built within the Fire and EMS service,” said the Buda Fire Department. Friends, family and colleagues are invited to attend services for Eric Spillar at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Hillside Fellowship Church in Spring Branch.
