Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 Judge Sandra Bryant swears in Buda City Council member Kimberly Goodman, with her son, Jace, and daughter, Taylor, by her side Tuesday, Jan. 20. Goodman was elected as the Single Member District C representative during the Dec. 13 runoff.
Prior to the regular city council meeting, a reception was held in honor of outgoing Single Member District C council member Terry Cummings, who had served on the council since 2019.
“I've talked about my most important things that I think we've done on council. I talk about the budget and being good stewards of our tax dollars … But then, it's the way we treat each other. It's the camaraderie. There's seven of us on purpose. There's seven people up there with seven different backgrounds, different opinions and we have handled it better than anyone I've seen anywhere around us and I'm very proud of that,” said the mayor. “I think you’ve had a lot to do with that, as far as you came to the meetings prepared and you were always, as I said, compassionate. You brought a different personality. You brought a different viewpoint and you moved me in places that I probably wouldn't have been on my own. So, I thank you for that. I thank you for what you've done for this city.”
