ROSANKY– Alliance Regional Water Authority hosted a ceremonial ribbon cutting event on Thursday, Dec. 5, to mark the successful delivery of potable water from the Carrizo water treatment plant located in Rosanky. Guests celebrated this major milestone as a step forward in meeting the increased water needs in Central Texas communities

Construction of the Carrizo water treatment plant began in the fall of 2021 and is part of a water agreement among the cities of Kyle, San Marcos and Buda, the Canyon Regional Water Authority and the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority. The entire water transmission system consists of the Carrizo water treatment plant, a booster pump station, elevated storage tank and more than 89 miles of pipeline. A future expansion of the water treatment plant and an additional elevated storage tank is also underway and design is ongoing.

Though construction began in 2021, the idea for a future water supply has been in the works for 20 years, with discussions of additional water needs beginning in 2003 between Kyle and the County Line Special Utility District.

The event was celebrated with special remarks from city of San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson, city of Kyle Mayor Travis Mitchell and city of Buda Mayor Lee Urbanovsky. Brooke T. Paup, Chairwoman of the Texas Water Development Board spoke on the importance of this regional water supply project and awarded Alliance Regional Water Authority with a certificate recognizing the official ribbon cutting.

After the ceremony, guests were able to tour the facility, which can provide up to 19.5 million gallons of water per day to its participants.
