DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Dripping Springs Lady Tigers soccer team secured a 2-0 win over the Lake Travis High School Cavaliers Friday, Feb. 27, in a key district matchup between the top two teams in the standings.
Entering the contest in first place with an 8-0-2 district record and an impressive 14-1-4 overall mark, the Lady Tigers delivered another complete performance. Facing a determined Cavaliers squad that came in ranked second, Dripping Springs relied on disciplined defense and timely offense for the shutout victory.
With the loss, Lake Travis dropped to third place in district play with a 6-2-1 record.
Both teams competed with high energy throughout the match, showcasing strong defensive pressure and aggressive attacking runs. The difference came from the Lady Tigers’ ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities, while maintaining a composed and organized back line.
Senior forward Bailey Stephenson turned in a standout performance, scoring both goals for the Lady Tigers. Her relentless effort and precise finishing proved to be the deciding factor in the contest.
Following the match, head coach Bailey Perrine praised her team’s chemistry and growth.
“We’re playing well together and you always hope your team peaks at the right time in the season,” Perrine said. “The girls are very coachable. They made adjustments at halftime and went out and executed.”
The Lady Tigers faced Del Valle High School March 3, though results were unavailable as of press time.
After a bye-week March 6, Dripping Springs will close out the regular season at home at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, against the Westlake High School Chaparrals. Perrine expects the final district matchup to be an exciting and competitive contest.
