Johnson High officials have now suspended all of its athletic camps until July 13 after a second student who participated in activities at the school tested positive for COVID-19.
The student, a male, tested positive for the Coronavirus Monday, said Tim Savoy, Hays CISD Chief Communications Officer. The male student last attended Johnson High’s athletic camp June 17.
The news comes after officials announced a female student, who last attended the Johnson High girls summer athletic camp June 17, tested positive for COVID-19 June 26. Originally, Johnson High had opted to suspend only its girls summer camp activities until mid-July.
All told, four total students who attended the Johnson High and Hays High athletic camps have tested positive for COVID-19.
Two female students who last attended the Hays High girls summer camp June 18 tested positive for the Coronavirus June 27, Savoy said. As a result, Hays High suspended its girls summer camp until July 13.
Hays High’s boys athletic camp will remain open until July 1, but are off until July 13 for the July 4 holiday break, Savoy said.
Meanwhile, all Lehman High’s athletic camps are on break through July 13 for the July 4 holiday, said Savoy. No students who have attended the Lehman High athletic camp have tested positive for COVID-19 at this time.
