Lt. Col. Byron C. Slusher, PA, U.S. Air Force (Ret.) passed away from this earth on April 21, 2026, surrounded by friends and family.  He was born in Paris Tx to Marty and Travis Slusher.  

He dedicated 31 years of his life to the United States Air Force, serving with distinction as a Lt. Colonel before retiring in 1995. His medical career began with basic and medic training, followed by service at Wilford Hall. He served in Vietnam where he cared for Vietnamese civilians as part of MILPHAP. Later he became a Physician Assistant graduating with the sixth PA class from the University of Nebraska and earned a master’s degree in Psychological Guidance and Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. His other assignments would take him to Japan, Texas, Hawaii, and New York, where he held leadership roles in primary care and hospital services. After military retirement, he continued serving his community at Central Texas Medical Associates until 2015, marking 40 years as a PA; he is survived by his wife Corliss, daughters Candace Garrett (Clay), Ginger Brown (Zack), Bryana Slusher, and Corbyn Slusher (Pate), as well as two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 28th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, TX.  Funeral and burial services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX on April 29th at 2:00 pm.
