LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Author: Graphic by Barton Publications

APPEARANCE vs REALITY

Gowns of red velvet and raw thinned green silk, so soft and warm on this cold winter night.

Dresses bristle against each other as the elegant ladies each dance with the man they love.

Who is the ball for? No one is certain. No one asks again.

The champagne continues to flow. The musicians continue to play. The couples continue to dance. No one asks again.

For when this ball is ended, all who are under this canopy of festivity will return to their world .

A world where war continues in the streets.

A world where grenades destroy old beauty. A world where children’s screams dance with gunfire.

And no one asks again.

By Kati Taylor, Aug 1993

A poem my then teenage daughter wrote when Americans were sitting on their hands during the Bosnia conflict regarding whether or not to get involved to stop the carnage.

But now the tide has turned and WE are the ones doing the killing, first in Iraq and now in Iran, both times using the excuse of destroying materials, the same materials that we possess openly.

Why can’t our “Commander in Chief” behave himself? Didn’t his mom teach him anything?

Congress never agreed to the bombing of Iran which makes this an illegal activity.

Congress MUST immediately do whatever is necessary to get the Office of President in check.

Comments welcome
