Patriots’ Hall of Dripping Springs hosted a Memorial Day Murph, Ruck and Rock event Monday, May 25. The event, which combined various activities in tribute to fallen service members and an opportunity for veterans and community members to gather together, was the first of its kind for the nonprofit.

The five-mile ruck began at Patriots’ Hall, crossed US 290 and continued down Canyonwood Drive, before making a few turns and, ultimately crossing back over at US 290 and Sunset Canyon Drive.

Following the ruck, there were various activities for all ages, as well as lunch and live music.

U.S. Army Special Forces veteran Mike Gorby, center, talks with a participant prior to the ruck. The ruck portion of the event was something Gorby started years ago, in honor of a fallen brother in arms. Last year, after feeling as if he could no longer manage the event alone, he donated the framework to Patriots’ Hall.
