SAN MARCOS — Texas State University and CHRISTUS Health are expanding their partnership through a new commitment to support student-athlete scholarships and success.
Through this expanded commitment, CHRISTUS Health will help provide meaningful educational opportunities for deserving student-athletes, including scholarship support and resources that help them thrive both academically and athletically, according to a news release.
"This partnership reflects our deep commitment to the health and success of student-athletes and the broader Texas State community," said Ernie Sadau, president and CEO of CHRISTUS Health. "Together, we are building on a relationship that spans athletic healthcare, clinical education and community care, creating meaningful opportunities for students and strengthening the communities we are privileged to serve."
CHRISTUS Health will also be recognized as a strategic official athletics health care partner of the university, with its logo featured on Texas State Athletics uniforms for home and away competitions across all sponsored sports starting this fall.

"This collaboration will open doors for our student-athletes through expanded scholarship opportunities, while showcasing the strength of our community partnerships. For years, CHRISTUS Health has been a valued corporate partner of Texas State Athletics, supporting student-athlete scholarships, advertising across all sports programs and the health and welfare of student-athletes, the release continued. Beyond athletics, the relationship reflects a shared commitment to student opportunity, community well-being and the continued growth of Central Texas.
"This is a landmark moment for Texas State Athletics as we enter into the Pac-12 Conference," said Don Coryell, vice president for Intercollegiate Athletics and director of Athletics at Texas State University. “Their support will have a lasting impact on our student-athletes receiving a degree by providing them with the resources they need and we're grateful to CHRISTUS Health for their commitment to Texas State."
