Facing each other for the first time in five years, the Hays High School Hawks football team took on the San Marcos High School Rattlers in San Marcos Saturday, Aug. 29, after being rained out on Friday. The Hawks defeated the Rattlers 29-27 as part of the Great American Rivalry Series.

The Hawks will face the Seguin High School Matadors for their first home game of the season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4. District play for the Hawks will begin Friday, Sept. 25, against the Buda Johnson Jaguars.
