AUSTIN — Honey's House Assisted Living celebrated its grand opening Aug. 27, welcoming nearly 100 guests to its new home at 11013 Signal Hill Drive, Austin. The boutique, 22-bed assisted living community is now open for tours and accepting new residents.
Honey's House was built around a simple idea: know every resident the way you'd know family, read a news release. The name comes from a real person, a beloved family member whose care shaped how the owners built this home. That standard shows up in the details: a private chef preparing organic, scratch-made meals, a 1:7 caregiver ratio and open access for families at any hour, continued the release.
The home is in the process of obtaining Alzheimer's Certification through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and is designed from the ground up to support residents with individualized care needs.
The opening brings roughly 25 new jobs to the Southwest Austin community, including an executive director, a wellness director (RN), a culinary team and staff that will grow to approximately 20 team members as the community reaches full capacity.
"Honey's House was created, so we could care for people the way we want our own families cared for," said Hannah, co-owner and activity director. "Grand opening day was the moment that idea became real. Seeing families walk through and picture their loved one here — that's what we worked toward."
"What stood out yesterday was how many people said it feels like a home, not a facility," said Bill Wagenbaur, executive director. "That's the goal every day going forward. We're ready to welcome residents home."
