KYLE — The Community Mission is expanding its ministry across Central Texas with the opening of a new Community Mission Hub in Kyle, serving individuals and families throughout the Kyle and Buda area.
Located at 395 County Road 202, Building 4, Kyle, the new location will provide food pantry services and connect local residents with resources, relationships and opportunities that support long-term stability and transformation, according to a press release.
For more than 90 years, The Community Mission has served individuals and families facing poverty, food insecurity and crisis. As community needs continue to grow, the organization is developing new Community Mission Hubs to bring support directly into neighborhoods where it is needed most.
Unlike traditional models focused primarily on emergency assistance, Community Mission Hubs are built around the philosophy of “a hand up, not a handout.” The goal, the release stated, is not only to meet immediate needs, but also to help people build a stronger future through encouragement, accountability, education and community partnerships.
“Our vision is to bring hope directly into neighborhoods that need it most,” said Chris King, executive director of The Community Mission. “Every Community Mission Hub will become a place where churches, businesses, volunteers and local organizations work together to help people move from crisis to stability. We believe lasting change happens when we invest in people, not just their immediate needs.”
The Kyle location is currently focused on food pantry services for area residents. Pantry appointments are available by appointment only on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings.
The Community Mission plans to expand services at the Kyle location in the new year as partnerships and community resources continue to grow. Potential Community Mission Hub services may include:
• Food assistance paired with personal goal setting
• Resource navigation and community referrals
• Financial literacy and life-skills education
• Employment and workforce connections
• Family support and mentoring
• Volunteer engagement opportunities
• Church and community partnership initiatives
Additionally, The Community Mission is also introducing its Virtual Pantry, which gives community members an online way to support specific food and household needs. Supporters can browse available pantry items, select what they would like to provide and help make essential resources available to Kyle and Buda families.
Community members interested in supporting the Kyle location can do so by: hosting a food drive through a church, school, business, neighborhood or community group; donating food, household essentials or financial support; purchasing items through the Virtual Pantry; volunteering with The Community Mission; sharing pantry information with neighbors who may need assistance; or Helping build partnerships among churches, businesses, civic groups and local organizations
The Community Mission will host two ribbon cuttings for the Kyle location. The Greater Buda Chamber of Commerce will be Tuesday, Sept. 29, while the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce will be Oct. 1. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations and join either ribbon cutting.
“Our communities don’t just need more programs,” King said. “They need places where relationships are built, dignity is restored and people are equipped to thrive. That’s what a Community Mission Hub is all about.”
