Patsy was born on July 22, 1938 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Reuben Gloor and Alma Schwarz Gloor. She went to be in Paradise on September 15, 2026 at the age of 88.
Patsy was born and raised in an all German family in Corpus Christi. She attended Catholic school at Incarnate Word Academy for most of her elementary years, then transferred to a public jr. high, then high school at W. B. Ray High School but finished at Incarnate Word, where she graduated in 1956.
She dated Bert Hurlbut in high school and later married him in Sinton, Texas on January 1, 1958. One year later she had the first of many children. Together they had: Berto, Blaine, Brandon, Bradley, Bridgitte, Baxter, Brittany and lastly her most special one, “Brooke”. Later Patsy and Bert divorced, and she became a single mother to all of these kids. She always did the best she could do with what she was dealt. She did just as the bible asks a Mom to do. She made sure each of her children knew the lord. Each one was baptized. Each one spent years going to VBS, RAs, GAs, Youth Groups and Church Camps. She was very disciplined in this. Even with the passing of her first child she made sure to talk about the importance of this at his service. She also even had the pastor ask anyone who wanted to come and be prayed on, please do it.
Patsy had her first four children in Corpus Christi and around 1972, moved to what we refer to as “The Ranch” in Dripping Springs. Years after this she had her final four children in Johnson City, Texas. She was a very active Mom. She drove all around the world taking the kids to sporting events, clubs, swimming, fishing, horse shows, rodeos, stock shows, friend’s houses and so on. Her father used to say that Willie Nelson’s song “On the Road Again” depicted her precisely.
Patsy was a beautiful person, both inside and out. She loved life and people! When I say she loved people, she loved them as though they were her children. She had a natural Glow of the Lord since birth. We are not aware of a time in her life, when she didn’t know the Lord. In her deepest darkest hours and in her most joyful moments, you could always find her in her rocking chair with a bible. She was an avid reader and could read 5 or more books at one time. Some of books she even started from the back and read to the front. She was everyone’s “Other Mother” and if she wasn’t someone’s “Other Mother”, she was everyone else’s “Meemaw”. She absolutely loved it too!! She loved family get togethers, vacations, parties and absolutely adored the beach.
Patsy leaves behind her sons Bradley (Laura), Baxter (Kim), daughters Bridgitte (Tim), Brittany (Wally), Brooke, daughter-in-law Misty and daughter-in-law Terry Davis and cousin Dick Heinrich. In addition, she has 37 grandchildren (including their spouses) and 19 great grandchildren.
The hardest thing about Mom’s death is trying to accept and absorb, the fact that we believed “She was invincible” and when we started seeing that fade, it was gut wrenching and left an empty place inside of us all. We know her children helped her transition and she’s now dancing with Jesus on the beach somewhere with all of her loved ones.
Patsy was proceeded in death by her parents, Reuben and Alma Gloor, her sister Jean Beck and her husband Junior, her brother, Reuben “Jack” Gloor, his wife Mary Francis, her father-in-law and mother-in law, Finley Hurlbut and Leta, her ex-husband, Bert, three of her children Berto, Blaine and Brandon, a niece Laurie Hurlbut and nephew Jeffrey Gloor.
Our Mom touched the lives of so many people. Each of them in return touched her life! We’re honored to have her as our Mom. She gave us strength in the beginning, now and forever. She will forever be missed. Please make it a point to “Love Life and People” the way that Mom did. It’s an invaluable characteristic and gift to have.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Liberty Lighthouse Fellowship, 321 Old River Crossing, Johnson City, TX 78636. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM that afternoon at Phillips Cemetery in Dripping Springs, TX.
