KYLE — Hays CISD is seeking suggestions for names for the district’s new high school and elementary school. The schools, which were approved by voters in the May 2025 bond election, are scheduled to open as early as August 2029, depending on school operations funding and bond construction capacity.
The district can accept suggestions from Hays CISD residents; taxpayers; business and nonprofit partners; and current and former students, staff and parents. Use the suggestion form button at www.hayscisd.net/naming2026. The name suggestion window is open until noon Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.
Current district policy allows new schools in Hays CISD to be named after former district employees who made significant contributions/ accommodations to better the educational experiences of district students and left employment with the district in good standing or a historical or geographical site in the community, but not the name of a subdivision with no historical significance.
Following the closing of the name suggestion nomination window, a name suggestion report will be presented to the Hays CISD Board of Trustees, which is likely to select final names for the schools no later than December 2026.
