WIMBERLEY — Holiday lights, locally owned shops and a calendar filled with community traditions await visitors in Wimberley this winter. Hometown Holidays kicks off Saturday, Nov. 28, bringing together celebrations throughout town and a Downtown Christmas Courtyard open through Jan. 3, 2027.
The opening-night festivities feature the Wishes for Wimberley Lighted Parade at 6 p.m., followed by the downtown tree lighting. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to explore Wimberley Square, shop for gifts and enjoy dinner before the evening celebrations, read a news release.
Throughout the season, the Downtown Christmas Courtyard at 101 Wimberley Square will feature holiday lights, decorations, photo opportunities and free live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with special activities on select dates. Visiting the courtyard, parade and tree lighting is free.
Beyond downtown, the EmilyAnn Trail of Lights returns to EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens, inviting visitors to explore light displays created by local businesses, organizations and families. Together, these experiences offer plenty of reasons to turn a holiday outing into a Hill Country overnight getaway.
Additional season highlights include:
• Dec. 5: Santa Pub Crawl. Dress as Santa or a favorite Christmas character for a festive stroll through downtown, with donations encouraged for Crisis Bread Basket.
• Dec. 19: Photos with Texan Santa and Ben the Longhorn. The event time is to be announced.
• Dec. 31, 7 p.m.: Downtown New Year’s Eve Ball Drop. Families can welcome the new year together with an early evening countdown in downtown Wimberley.
Between events, visitors can explore Wimberley’s boutiques, galleries, restaurants and tasting rooms, then settle into a local inn, cabin or vacation rental.
