HAYS COUNTY— Hays County invites community members to attend a public open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Sycamore Springs Middle School, 14451 Sawyer Ranch Road in Austin, to learn about the Sawyer Ranch Road improvement projects, ask questions and provide feedback.
Community members may come and go at any time during the event to review exhibits, maps and project materials and speak directly with members of the project team.
In addition to updates on the current phase of development, the open house will provide an overview of the Sawyer Ranch Road Pedestrian Walkway and Widening projects. The project team will also share information about nearby transportation improvement projects.
“As Hays County continues to grow, we must ensure that our transportation infrastructure keeps pace with the needs of the community,” said Precinct 4 commissioner Walt Smith. “With the expansion and construction of multiple schools and homes on the Sawyer Ranch corridor, the county wants to be as proactive as possible to ensure the safety of our families and students and this is an important step in that process.”
Those unable to attend in person may review the meeting materials and submit comments online at www.hayscoroads.com from Oct. 20 through Nov. 4.
The improvements are part of a broader effort to enhance safety, mobility and connectivity. As projects move through planning, design, right-of-way acquisition, utility coordination and construction, the county is committed to keeping residents informed and engaged through public meetings, project updates and ongoing opportunities for community input, according to a news release.
