KYLE — The Kyle Police Department has partnered with St. David's HealthCare to help prevent the misuse of prescription medications.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, during the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Take Back Day, a safe medication disposal site will be available at the Public Safety Center, located at 1700 Kohlers Crossing, Kyle.
This Prescription Drug Take Back event encourages community members to remove unneeded or expired medications from their homes as a proactive measure against medication misuse. These efforts will help prevent drug addiction, overdoses and illegal distribution by ensuring prescription drugs do not end up in the wrong hands, according to a news release.
Participants can safely dispose of controlled substances, over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, creams, non-aerosol sprays, vials and pet medications. Used needles and other sharps will not be accepted. All accepted medications will be properly destroyed, the release concluded.
