WIMBERLEY — The Wimberley High School Texans football team needed just 10 seconds to reach the end zone Friday, Oct. 16, returning an interception on the Austin Achieve Polar Bears’ first play for a touchdown and setting the tone for a 77-0 district victory.
The Texans built a 42-0 first-quarter lead and improved to 6-0 overall with the shutout. Austin Achieve fell to 1-6.
Temperatures at kickoff hovered around 62 degrees, with northerly wind gusts near 30 mph making it feel closer to 52. The blustery conditions did little to slow Wimberley, which took control immediately after the visiting Polar Bears received the opening possession.
The Texans next face Lago Vista High School Friday, Oct. 23, in a District 14-4A Division II matchup. The Vikings enter at 6-1 following a 41-27 district victory over Manor New Tech.
