SAN MARCOS — The office of Hays County Criminal District Attorney Kelly Higgins announced that 61-year-old Josue Salinas Jr. was convicted of super aggravated sexual assault of a child, continuous sexual abuse of children and indecency with a child by a jury Oct 19. The same jury then returned a verdict of two life sentences later that day.

The evidence at trial showed that in May 2021, the Kyle Police Department began an investigation in which a 4-year-old child outcried to sexual abuse by the defendant.
While the investigation was ongoing, a 5-year-old child outcried to further sexual abuse.
Salinas was arrested in August 2021 for those charges, but was released on bond.
In April of 2025, Travis County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a separate matter when a 6-year-old child outcried that the defendant had molested her around 2024. In 2025, an additional survivor came forward and stated that the defendant had molested her in the year 2000 when she was 12 years old.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Katie Arnold and Phillip Guebert.
“I hope the bravery and resilience of these children in coming forward encourages other survivors of sexual abuse to speak up. Without their courage, this man would still be offending.”
Salinas is not eligible for parole on either life sentence of continuous sexual abuse of a child and super aggravated sexual assault of a child.
