Man sentenced to life for continuous sexual abuse of child
Austin Tyler Jordan

SAN MARCOS — The office of Hays County Criminal District Attorney Kelly Higgins announced that 30-year-old Austin Tyler Jordan received a sentence of life in prison for the offense of continuous sexual abuse of a child Oct. 22.

Jordan was convicted by a Hays County jury of continuous sexual abuse of a child, indecency with a child and online solicitation of a minor July 10. He elected to have the court decide his  punishment and after a punishment hearing Oct. 22, the judge of the 483rd District Court imposed a life sentence. The judge also imposed the maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for each of the other two convictions, with all sentences running concurrently.

The evidence in the trial showed that in December 2022, the San Marcos Police Department began investigating Jordan when a minor child was discovered communicating in a sexual manner with him over text. Police discovered that he had been in a three-month-long sexual relationship with a 10-year-old female.

Jordan also had child sexual abuse material on his phone and his DNA was discovered on the child’s bed. The court also heard evidence in the punishment phase that Jordan had committed acts of domestic violence against former girlfriends.

Assistant district attorneys Katie Arnold and Abby Whitaker prosecuted this case.

“We’re glad that the jury and the judge were able to see the evidence in this case,” Arnold said. “A life sentence ensures not just the safety of the survivor, but the safety of every female who might cross his path.”

Jordan is not eligible for parole on the life sentence for continuous sexual abuse of a child.
