BUDA — Dripping Springs extended its winning streak to six games Friday, shutting out Hays 42-0 in District 26-6A play.
The Tigers improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in district play. They have a bye next week before hosting Del Valle High School Nov. 5.
“We played with good tempo,” Dripping Springs coach Galen Zimmerman said. “Anytime you get a shutout in district play, that’s a big night.”
Zimmerman said Hays’ defensive front forced the Tigers to make adjustments, but he was pleased with the team’s execution and defensive play.
“Defensively, I felt like we did a really good job of playing gap-sound defense,” he said.
Ben Donahoe (No. 9) said the Tigers’ preparation helped them perform.
“We had a great week of practice. We had a good game plan,” Donahoe said. “We just pushed the standard every single day. We get better no matter who we’re playing. We try to be better every single week.”
Donahoe said he tries to lift up his teammates regardless of who is playing or what the score is.
“I just try to do the best I can and uplift everyone,” he said. “No matter who’s playing, no matter what the score is, I try to uplift everyone at all times.”
The next home game will be Nov. 5 with Del Valle High School and kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
