Hays High School issued the following statement Thursday, July 2
The survey we sent out opened Monday and closed today at noon. Teachers and staff members at Hay High School were asked one question: on a seven-point scale, how comfortable they are with the rebel mascot. Hays High School students were asked the same single question. In addition, students were also asked to provide a new mascot choice, and an alternate, in case the Board decides to change the mascot. The Board of Trustees would have to vote to change the mascot. We will be issuing a statement on Monday with the survey results and what may happen next.
