Get to know Your Wildlands
The Water Quality Protection Lands program conserves working ranches and open space surrounding Onion Creek, Bear Creek, Little Bear Creek and others to benefit local groundwater and springs. The group manages land to keep natural processes working as they always have to keep the aquifer functioning even as the human world around us changes. See these wildlands and lend a hand to one of the largest land and groundwater protection efforts in Hays County. Join us for a free guided hike, volunteer event, or star party. Sign up at austintexas.gov/WQPLstory. The event will feature a crawl-through cave exhibit, a movie screening about protecting wildlands for water in Hays County, and more.
The first event will be Friday, Feb. 7 at the Kyle Public Library, 4:30 to 6 p.m. The second event is Monday, Feb. 10 at the Buda Public Library. See advertisement on page 9 for more information.
