Relief for commuters waiting for the end of work on Burleson Street is but a few months away.
According to Leon Barba, engineer for the city of Kyle, the project is still on track to be completed in June.
As of Jan. 21, Barba reported the project is an estimated 73 percent complete with the section from Center to Rodriguez streets open for local traffic only as workers are still present. The roadway north of Rodriguez to south of the roundabout is still closed.
While utility crews have been working from Rodriguez Street to south of James Adkins Drive since Jan. 23, that work has expanded to north of Rodriguez.
Replanking the UPRR crossing is pending, while the detention pond is nearing completion and only minimal work is still needed on a retaining wall by the church.

Improvement projects:
• Lehman Road, now open from Primrose to FM 150 for local traffic, is expected to be done in August. As of Jan. 21 the total project was estimated to be 46 percent complete, with bridge work at Plum Creek to start soon.
• The Kyle Crossing project, meanwhile, is 99 percent complete. The road is open and the final walk-through has been done. The city council, on second reading, repealed the ordinance that authorized “No Through Truck Signs” from Kohler’s Crossing to Vista Ridge.
• Work on the Bunton Creek Interceptor is estimated 98 percent complete and 40 percent grant funded. The Texas Department of Agriculture has requested a two-month extension.
• Council postponed an item dealing with the wastewater treatment plant expansion. Three bids were received ranging from $28,898,400 to $30,921,000.
