Two more COVID-related fatalities were reported today by the Hays County Health Department. Both were female residents of San Marcos; one in her 70s, the other was in her 80s. Epidemiologist Eric Schneider also reported 56 new lab-confirmed cases, three new hospitalizations and 51 additional recoveries.
“The most effective way to slow the spread of the virus is to limit your trips, wash your hands, stay distanced from others and wear a mask when in public,” he said. “We urge everyone take these simple, effective steps to protect those in our community who are most vulnerable.”
The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 3,699; of those, 2,942 are considered active. The total number of individuals considered recovered is 744. The number of negative tests is 10,926. Schneider is awaiting results on 59 tests. Hays County has had 75 total hospitalizations; 23 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers.
