A Hays County jury found Krystal Villanueva guilty of capital murder and aggravated assault on Thursday after deliberating for less than four hours.
She will serve a life sentence without the possibility of parole, which is automatic in cases where the death penalty was not considered.
Villanueva killed and partially dismembered her five-year-old daughter Giavanna Hernandez and wounded her father in law in the family's mobile home in Kyle on Jan. 5, 2017.
Defense counsel had attempted to persuade the jury Villanueva was insane at the time of the attack but District Attorney Wes Mau argued that just because Villanueva "did something crazy" did not mean she was insane.
