A Kyle resident was one of two people were killed early on Thursday, Jan. 2, when they were ejected from a vehicle on Hwy. 123 in San Marcos after their car veered off the highway and struck a driveway culvert.
They were identified as Daniel F. Aguilar, 52, of Kyle and Seguin, who was driving the 1998 Honda Accord, and Raymond D. Silguero, 55, of Waco and San Marcos, who was described as a passenger.
Aguilar was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Maggie Moreno. Silguero was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Scott Cary after being rushed to Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle.
Authorities said neither man was wearing a seat belt, and the incident remains under investigation by San Marcos Police.
These are the first and second traffic fatalities in San Marcos and Hays County for 2020.
