Hays County residents can now participate in a virtual town hall through July 26.
The County is looking to have residents provide public input on the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Grade Separation Improvement Project. The project will relocate the UPRR’s siding track from downtown Kyle to Kohler’s Crossing near Austin Community College.
The virtual town hall will include a welcome video by commissioner Mark Jones, exhibits and public comment. Jones said residents should provide feedback because they will be impacted greatly by the project.
“Just five or ten minutes of your time can help us determine the future of Kyle and the broader community,” Jones said in a statement to the public. “We want to hear from everyone who has an interest in these roadway improvements.”
According to Jones, moving the siding would provide a safe location that will “greatly improve mobility, traffic flow and emergency response.”
The Hays County Commissioners Court is working to provide residents with more safe and efficient transportation options.
