Some changes are coming to Interstate 35 in Kyle.
Work is underway from RM 150 north to Kyle Crossing to reverse the entrance and exit ramps, reconstruct the bridge over Plum Creek and to construct improvements to the northbound access road.
The $18.5 million project will be abutted on its southern end by a $9 million project stretching from RM 150 south to the Blanco River. Both are part of an overall upgrade of I-35 stretching from San Antonio to Georgetown.
Work on the stretch through Kyle began in September and, weather permitting, is estimated to be complete in early 2022. Hunter Industries, Ltd. is the contractor.35
TxDOT says the frontage road work will include adding an extended lane between ramps as well as reconstruction of the northbound access road. The Plum Creek bridge will also be reconstructed.
There are currently no associated lane closures.
