The summer heat continues to make its debut in Texas as the fall season will soon arrive. What a perfect time for outdoor festivals and fairs is now a pure cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Compiled below are just a few of the events that had to be canceled or postponed indefinitely.
The State Fair of Texas, typically held between September and October, in Dallas is one of many traditions enjoyed by all ages. From live music to plenty of exotic fried food, there’s something at the State Fair for everybody. This is the first time the fair has been cancelled since World War II. The State Fair is planning to come back in full swing for the 2021 season.
While living around the area, many Texans have heard of the Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL). Zilker Park is filled with an assortment of musicians, artists and the occasional die-hard fan. While ACL will not be in action for fall of 2020, it is planned for October 2021 to commemorate the 20th anniversary.
Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg that celebrates German heritage will not be held as planned for 2020.
Wurstfest in November was also cancelled, according to a recent announcement made by the Wurstfest Assocation of New Braunfels. The festival started out to honor one local food: sausage. Now, filled with dancing and performances, visitors will have to wait until next year to experience the traditions.
Though many Texans may be discouraged by the lack of festivals and fairs this year, they can look forward to what 2021 has in store. Event organizers pride the health and safety of all Texans during this time.
