Staff Report
An argument between a father and son at a residence in Buda resulted in the death of the father and the arrest of the son for first-degree murder.
In a Sunday Nov. 22 news release, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responding to a “violent family disturbance” Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of Shale Circle and discovered the body of 65-year-old Darrell Thierry in the living room.
In the release, Lt. Dennis Gutierrez said 42-year-old Damien Montague Roberts was found elsewhere in the home and placed under arrest. They had reportedly struck his father unconscious during an argument, retrieved a handgun from a bedroom, returned and shot his father “multiple times." Both men were visiting from out of town.
After he was in custody, Roberts tried to escape by "trying to push through deputies to flee.” After a brief struggle, he was secured and placed in the patrol unit. Roberts was transported to the Hays County jail where he was charged with first-degree murder and third-degree attempted escape from custody while confined. He was released to jail personnel and is waiting to be magistrated.
