Last week, Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) removed approximately 200 COVID-19 cases from their database due to error in reporting.

Some of the issues that caused faulty reporting include but are not limited to: a person getting a COVID-19 test at different facilities or people getting tested in Hays County who do not live in the county.

Hayden Matz, data analyst for HCLHD, said that they will begin doing more in-depth auditing. This entails the team to go through positive cases every Friday to ensure there have been no duplicates or other issues.

Matz said that these issues are not one person’s fault, but it is attributed to a variety of issues that can arise in the testing process.
